SAMBA welcomes you!

We are a grassroots organization made up of off-road cycling enthusiasts who live in the city or county of Sacramento, California.  Currently, there are no designated off-road cycling trails in our community of some one million people.  Local off-road enthusiasts must travel to Folsom Lake, or to Auburn, to legally ride off road.

We aim to change that.

  • SAMBA promotes responsible off-road bicycling in the Sacramento urban area.  SAMBA accomplishes this by advocating for trail access in suitable areas where off-road access is currently forbidden, by participating in public processes to designate and locate off-road bicycling trails, and by organizing volunteer efforts to build, maintain and patrol off-road cycling trails.  SAMBA also assists other groups in volunteer efforts which enhance the environment and safety of areas in which off-road cycling is allowed.
  • SAMBA's hopes to diversify the off-road cycling population, by opening up the sport to individuals—particularly youth—who cannot drive to trails in far-flung suburbs.

We invite other community groups with an interest in creating a safer, more friendly lower American River, where citizens can stay fit, meet friends and neighbors, and enjoy an intense natural experience right in their own backyard, without the need to get in a car and drive.
