Recycled Plastic Enterprises

A primary goal of this site is to build sustainable enterprises for manufacturing durable goods, out of recycled plastics feedstocks.   The goal is to use large volumes of the most abundant low-grade materials to produce relatively simple but high-quality products.

Areas of particular promise for such products include:

• building materials
• anti-erosion and trail-building products
• sports and recreation equipment
• personal protection products
• greenhouse and nursery products
• furniture
• farm and ranch products

Recycled plastic building materials which enable other alternative building technologies, such as straw bales or rammed earth, are ideal. Also, recycled plastic building products to assist with disaster prevention and relief are another strong possibility.

The deficiencies of using recycled post-consumer plastic waste in manufacturing are well known: dramatic decreases in strength and flexibility and difficulties in the molding process.  However, recent research in Europe and other places shows that plastic wastes, when mixed with the right combination of catalysts, fillers, and even other polymers, can produce useful and highly durable compounds with acceptable rheological and cosmetic properties.

Anyone with expertise in the plastics industry who is interested in joining these types of enterprises is invited to fill in the survey below.  We are particularly in need of people with expertise in plastic chemistry and molding. Your information will not be given or sold to anyone.

Sustainable Enterprises may be interested in purchasing unused proprietary plastics recycling technologies. 

Sustainable Enterprises will create strong demand for post-consumer recycled plastic pellets and flakes.  We intend to create high-value-added durable products which help protect the earth's natural systems and its inhabitants, while earning a fair profit, spreading wealth, and decreasing waste.
